Busy With Great Sessions07.13.11

A lot of new changes this year.   With the new studio and trying to keep up with the photo sessions, designing the walls of my studio, getting ready for the onslaught of the 2012 senior class treading water may be a more accurate term.

I am not complaining mind you, I love the fact that I am busy with the finishing touches in my studio all the while tripping over myself during the senior sessions and maternity sessions.

I just wish things would return to “normal” for just a day.  Although I suppose “comfortable” might be the term I am searching for.  I will say I have been having a lot of fun the past 15 days or so.  Different requests from kids for their senior pictures and requests for images I had been working on over the winter.

I did get to go on location this week for session for a long time friend of mine.  I met the mother back in 1987 while on an overseas youth trip.  20 (something) years later I am photographing her daughter.  Talk about time flying!  This portrait was a nice diversion from the studio and local work I have been doing lately.

Now, back to the grindstone.

Grove City Seniors!05.26.11

Hello there soon to be seniors!  After the PIAA State Championships this weekend look for Evyn and ask for her Jm Images card!  There are more goodies involved than what is on the card, but the cards are small and putting all the goodness on them is, well, just not possible!

Ohh my…. do not forget the new, rebranded, cooler looking (dare I use the term ‘swanky’?) “joe shot me” t-shirts that will be included in your session!

Grove City High School 2012 Senior Ambassador05.22.11

Evyn was on my short list of Ambassadors when I met her two years ago during Cross Country.  As the last weeks of her Junior year wind down we got together and rocked a few images to knock the dust off of my senior shooting.  (Or get me wound up for the upcoming Senior Summer) Either way the session went great and Evyn will be ready to hand out cards to her friends with a great offer on the cards!  (Just look her up at school and she will be more than happy to pass along a card or two)

Slippery Rock High School, PA Senior (with a tad bit more information)10.12.10

I have known Kayla a long time.  Mostly through the wrestling community here in PA.  I have had the joy and pleasure of watching her grow into a great young lady and a fierce wrestler.  Kayla will graduate from High school this year.  We had been working on getting her portraits taken for most of the Summer but had not been able to connect.  Seems she has been a little busy this Summer.  So busy in fact that I had to travel to Cleveland, Ohio back in April for the 2010 USA /FILA Championships. The original post is here. But here are a few of her pics I captured.

Since then Kayla has been busy with the wrestling.  In June she was ranked 3rd in the country at 51kg. not bad considering these are women’s rankings and she was still waiting to enter her senior year in high school.  Before that she placed 3rd at the US World Team Trials.  Traveled to Mexico and represented the US. then spent some time in Colorado at the Olympic Training Center located in Colorado Springs.  She has done more then what I have posted, but I think you get the picture.

Soooooo, we finally got together the other evening for a short session in order to get her picture into the Yearbook.  It was funny.  Kayla is all rough and tumble and is on her way to becoming a world class athlete. Yet she is just this young student/athlete  at a small high school and was excited/nervous about getting her picture taken.  After a little chatting and some  down time Kayla relaxed and was fun to photograph.

What was most interesting was her wish to be photographed in her Homecoming dress. What a transformation.  From her battle wear on the mat to her homecoming wear that will be  worn on the dance floor.

I am looking forward to our next photo session, when we have a little more time.

Information Thursday05.20.10

Listen to your subject and/or client!  and remember to shoot at the “Golden Hour” which is 30 minutes before the sun set and 30 minutes after the sun set.

The image below was taken after I was ready to call it an evening.  I asked if there was something else she would like done and she said, how about the back of my dress?  I was like,  “duh Joe, of course she wants a shot of the back of the dress.”  All women want that shot!  (So I quickly rebounded from my oversight and pulled my camera back out) We walked over to the corner of the building and BAMB, the light was perfection!  Had I not listened to Kendra I never would gotten this shot.  I really do think this shot was the best of the night.

After this shot she looked to her right and noticed these stairs and asked for one more picture by the stairs.  Again, I always listen to the client.  Glad she spoke up. This is my second favorite shot of the night.

Quick post05.04.10

Just a few images from a quick dress shoot the other evening.  Again, I love my job!  Such a nice girl!  I look forward to working with her a little later in the month!  Thanks Julianne.

LOVE this image.

This shot may be my favorite.

Quick Video04.16.10

Happy Friday!

It was the first really beautiful day we had in April and I was lucky enough to be able to work that afternoon! This was the final senior for 2010. What a way to finish off the school year and what a great way to rev up for the incoming seniors of (gulp) 2011!

Anyway, here is a quick video of a few of the shots. Enjoy and have a great weekend!
